David Baker has extensive experience in corporate acquisitions and finance, business law, the representation of health care providers and environmental law.

Having spent forty-three years in the Atlanta office of Powell Goldstein, LLP, Mr. Baker reached mandatory retirement age at the end of 2007, and joined Taylor English. Mr. Baker has represented a wide variety of clients, including carpet manufacturers, a major bedding manufacturer, a major national bank, major federal insurance corporation and asset resolutions corporations, foreign corporations with operations in the U.S., a significant household appliance manufacturer distributing its products through direct nationwide sales, soft drink companies, a large chain of fast food restaurants, a real estate development company with respect to medical office buildings, a number of Fortune 100 companies in the environmental field, a large hospital and a large food purchasing cooperative resulting from two mergers of three of the largest in the field. Mr. Baker represents venture capital companies and funds and is involved with technology companies.

Mr. Baker’s broad area of practice with Taylor English includes counseling of clients in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buy-outs, joint ventures, asset-based financing, distributorship arrangements, environmental matters, healthcare law, and the formation and operation of cooperatives.

Mr. Baker served as Chair of the Section of General Practice of the American Bar Association from 1986 to 1987 and served as Chairman of the ABA’s Standing Committee on Environmental Law from 1993 to 1996. He formerly served as Chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Section of General Practice. Mr. Baker is served as Chair of the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Professional Discipline. Mr. Baker formerly served as a trustee of money market and mutual funds based In Cleveland, Ohio.

Volunteer to numerous organizations throughout his career, Mr. Baker is currently a Trustee of The Rich Foundation and was Chairman of the Board of The Howard School, 2007- 2008. Mr. Baker was a member of the Board of Visitors of The Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy at Duke University.
