Taylor English Expands Global Reach

Cross-border Transactions Specialist Rich Kaye Joins Firm

Atlanta – April 20, 2010 – In a bid to further tap foreign markets, Taylor English Duma LLP has added cross-border transactions specialist Rich Kaye.

Kaye, who comes to Taylor English from Arnall Golden Gregory LLP, has 27 years of law experience—much of it assisting U.S. and foreign companies conduct business across international lines.

“Rich’s addition expands the firm’s capabilities in international corporate transactional work,” said partner Joe English. “His experience will help us, and our clients, better serve foreign markets from Asia to Africa.”

Kaye’s arrival to Taylor English marks a continuing trend of expanding by adding experienced attorneys from other prominent Atlanta firms. In late February, Taylor English hired Jeff Kuester from Thomas, Kayden, Horstemeyer & Risley LLP. Over the past year, Taylor English has added 25-plus attorneys—most of whom have at least 15 years experience.

Kaye joins Taylor English’s Business Transactions, Corporate & Taxation practice group. He plans to focus on issues ranging from reverse mergers and foreign stock listings to advising clients on how to conduct business abroad. He also will continue his strong emerging-technology practice.

Kaye has first-hand experience abroad. He began his career in the Ivory Coast and France, helping clients penetrate African and European markets. He has significant experience in China, having put together multiple joint-venture manufacturing arrangements and technology transfers. He’s also helped Asian clients conduct business in the United States.

Clients that Kaye brings from his former practice include construction and engineering companies such as Atlanta-based New South Construction. He also brings a number of promising emerging-technology firms, such as Scientific Conservation, Ascend Technologies and MATRA Systems.

Kaye said a big reason he came to Taylor English was because of the firm’s unique business model that offers the most senior attorneys at lower rates than larger firms.

“We don’t have the overhead that the big firms do,” said Kaye. “We can really offer our clients a value model with great flexibility in our billing arrangements.  Clients have been very responsive to this model.  It just makes business sense.”

Kaye is actively involved with Atlanta’s international community. He serves as the co-chair of the Business Transactions Committee of the American Bar Association’s International Section and is on the board of directors of the French Chamber of Commerce.
