Podcast: Biodiesel and Alternative Fuel Tax Credits

Taylor English Duma attorneys Greg Sanderson and Jonathan Wilson have prepared a podcast through Lexis-Nexis on U.S. federal biodiesel and alternative fuel excise tax credit programs.

The biodiesel and alternative fuel excise tax credit programs have played an important role in expanding the production of alternative fuels in the U.S.  Refundable excise tax credits provide indirect public support for the formation of capital in the industry.  Both tax programs have existed, in various forms, for more than a decade expired at the end of 2009.

There are several bills pending in Congress that would extend the biodiesel and alternative fuel excise tax credit programs, but the political prospects for passing those laws is uncertain.  This podcast examines the history of the alternative fuel excise tax credit programs and describes the prospects for legislation that would extend public support for alternative fuels.

The Taylor English Renewable Energy Finance team advises project developers, investors and electric utilities on the corporate, tax and finance issues central to the development of new sources of renewable energy.
